Amma's Guidance on Today’s
Solar Eclipse

The Sri Chakra has the power to destroy
negative astrological energies.
Jai Karunamayi!
The longest total eclipse of the entire 21st century will take place
today: July 22nd (in India) which is July 21st in the US.
It is said that when an eclipse occurs, a great deal of negativity
enters into the Earth's atmosphere, often influencing us in profound
ways. According to the sages, eclipses also have a marked effect on
the human aura, which creates heightened vulnerabilities, especially
if we are going through a difficult time astrologically.
The path of the eclipse will cover half the planet, beginning in the
Middle East and continuing on to Asia, and the Pacific Ocean. While
people in nations such as the United States will not be able to view
the eclipse, many will be impacted by its powerful energy. People born
in Punrvasu Nakshatras (Mithuna Rasi) and Pushyami Nakshatras (Karkataka
Rasi) will be especially impacted by this eclipse.
Thankfully, according to our beloved Amma, there are certain practices
which can actually protect us from harm and also allow us to even benefit
from the unique circumstances of this eclipse (see below).
Today’s eclipse will occur on July 22nd, from 5:27 AM to 10:00
AM (Indian Standard Time). For those who live in the West, the corresponding
time of the entire eclipse will be from 7:57 PM to 12:30 AM (Eastern
Standard Time) on July 21st.
Amma’s Divine Guidance
It is said that when we do sadhana (spiritual practices) during an
eclipse, the benefits are multiplied thousands of times. So even
though the eclipse has the potential to usher in negativity, it also
represents a powerful opportunity for our spiritual development.
To that end, Amma has provided beautiful recommendations for practices
that we can conduct during this major astrological event.
For four hours before the eclipse begins and also for the duration
of the eclipse, it is best to not eat any food. If possible, we should
also avoid drinking any liquids, including water. Before the eclipse
begins, take a complete bath/shower, shampooing your hair. After bathing,
put on fresh clothes, go to your puja room or altar, and do either
meditation or mantra japa for the duration of the eclipse.
If you are practicing mantra japa, you can repeat your main mantra,
or you can also repeat the Maha Mrutyunjaya Mantra,,
which is very beneficial for shielding us from harmful energies, and
will help to provide healing energy for those whom are suffering.
In addition, it would be very auspicious to perform charitable actions
during the solar eclipse. People can also give daanam, raw food material
(including wheat for Surya) and Dakshina to priests to remove any negatives
that may be produced by the eclipse.
After the eclipse has ended, take another bath/shower, again washing
your hair, and put on fresh clothes. At this time, please make sure
to throw away any cooked food that you may have left over.
If possible, it is very powerful to conduct a puja once the eclipse
has passed. The worship of a Sri Chakra is especially beneficial at
this time, as the Sri Chakra is capable of nullifying negative astrological
energies. When conducting a post-eclipse puja, Amma recommends that
we offer red-colored items, such as kumkum, red flowers, red fruits,
red cloths, red bangles, etc.
Special Worship, including Homas, Will Be Performed
in Amma’s
Penusila Ashram During the Solar Eclipse
Special Navagraha Shanthi Homa, japas and abhishekams will be performed
in the Lalitha Peetham in Amma’s Penusila Ashram in India that
will help to counteract the effects of the solar eclipse and for universal
peace.
If you would like to sponsor the above to ward off the ill-effects
of the eclipse, please sponsor online at
this link.
In addition please email your name(s) and nakshatram (birth star) to
smvatrustusa@yahoo.com as soon as possible, as the worship will begin
shortly.
Divine Mother is "Navagraha Dosha Nivarini," the one who
removes the defects arising from the nine planets. Let us offer our
prayers
to that Divine Mother for the peace and well-being of everyone around
the world, and let us pray that all will be surrounded by a circle
of divine protection during the upcoming eclipse.
