New
Hand-Made Murtis at AmmaStore
A limited
quantity of special hand-made
murtis are available to purhcase
at the AmmaStore. The murtis are made by Larry, one of Amma's
devotees, who creates murtis as part of his spiritual practice. Lary
has donated a limited quantity to the AmmaStore.
Each murti is made from natural clay that is blessed with water from
the Ganges. They are created using special prayers and pooja.
Then the murtis are kiln fired and then painted. They are each
formed lovingly and consciously and 'contain' many mantras.

Shown above are the 6.75
inch Ganesha, Saraswati, and Krishna murties.
Larry told us, "I first became involved with making murtis through
the teachings of the Tibetan Buddhist master, Lama Zopa. Making sacred
forms out of clay is an ancient practice found throughout Tibet and other
Buddhist countries. In Tibetan they are called 'tsa-tsa'. Making of tsa-tsa
is considered a highly meritorious act which generates an abundant dose
of auspiciousness for the creator, his family and the immediate area
where the work takes place. Several years ago I started with one form "Amitabha" and
made hundreds of these until branching out into making over two dozen
Bodhisattva dieties as my sadhana progressed.
"Along with my Buddhist practice I always had a heartfelt connection
with Hinduism and to the family of Gods and Goddess's represented there.
I began collecting small murtis in India to make molds of. Often these
murtis were 'found' in special and auspicious circumstances.
"It is my wish that they find a loving home in which to emmanate their
blessings. I humbly offer these murtis to the lotus feet of
our beloved Sri Karunamayi in which 100% of the proceeds will
be given."
