Sri Lalita Sahasranama Maha Yajna for World Peace
Hyderabad, A.P., India
Jan 5-9, 2007

Throughout the programs, many political and cultural figures came in honor of the auspicious event and received the blessings of Sri Lalita Parameswari.

“We need to stop the pollution of Mother Earth; we can reduce our wants and needs to live a simple life – simple living with high thinking.” ~ Amma

“Sri Lalita Sahasranama is not just names. Each and every name is a potent mantra with the power to bring peace to us. Then we become the carriers of that peace and we spread our peaceful vibrations to the entire world.” ~ Amma

Amma blesses Sri Suresh Reddy, Speaker of the A.P. Legislative Assembly. “I am praying especially for Bhu Devi, our beautiful Mother Earth, during these special homas and pujas. Each and every individual must do something for the peace of our beloved Mother Earth.” ~ Amma

Amma blesses Sri Kodandaram Reddy, Member of the A.P. Legislative Assembly. “We must all be like models for the future generations. We can show future people how to live a truly dharmic life.” ~ Amma

Amma blesses Sri Manohar. “Mother Earth is such a kind, sweet and tender Mother. She has been bearing us all so patiently on her lap, but she is crying in agony from all the mistakes of her children.” ~ Amma

“In India’s ancient epics, like Ramayana and Mahabharata, countless stories show us which behaviors and attributes are good for society, and which are not.” ~ Amma

“The events of the Mahabharata show us that selfishness is the root of war, whereas selflessness is necessary for true peace. In the Ramayana, Sri Rama demonstrated the ideal qualities of a king. Modern politicians can learn from his example of selflessness, purity, dedication, and constant self-sacrifice for the welfare of his people.” ~ Amma

Amma blesses Sri Krishna Reddy, Mayor of the City of Hyderabad. “The city of Hyderabad is very lucky to have this program. Through these auspicious homas and pujas, and the sincere prayers of all the devotees, Mother Earth has been charged with positive energy from Andhra Pradesh itself.” ~ Amma

On the final day of the programs, a special peace conference was held, in which a number of political and cultural figures gave addresses. Here, Amma gives her loving blessings to the keynote speaker, Srimati Purandeshwari, before the conference begins.

“In the form of Veda Mata, Divine Mother has blessed the whole world with the priceless teachings of the Vedas. Whatever is in the Vedas is meant for the well-being of all of humanity.” ~ Amma

Amma reaches out to bless Srimati Shobha Raju, a well-known devotional singer and Director of the Annamayya Project. “Veda Mata expects more and more noble people in our world, for the sake of the future generations of humanity.” ~ Amma

Sri Daivagna Sarma, a Vedic astrologer and numerologist, speaks about the teachings of Sanatana Dharma. “The highest happiness and supreme peace come from true dharma. If we are in dharma, we will experience sampurna shanti—peace will be overflowing from our heart.” ~ Amma

Srimati Shobha Raju sings a beautiful and touching song to our beloved Amma. “Moral values and attunement with Mother Nature—these are the two banks of a very peaceful river of life for humanity.” ~ Amma

Sri Diwakar Reddy, A.P. Minister of Endowments gives a speech. “We must preserve greenery, conserve water, and give our love to Mother Nature. Humanity must use its intelligence for good purposes, not for destruction. We need to merge our consciousness in Nature.” ~ Amma

Srimati Purandeshwari, the Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development, gave a beautiful keynote address about the need to honor and respect India’s spiritual roots. “India is the embodiment of peace, but we need the blessings of [Karunamayi] Amma to make sure we continue this legacy. Amma is a beacon of light showing the way to all of us. Peace will spread in our world because of her love and blessings.” ~ Srimati Purandeshwari

Sri Bangaru Lakshman, former President of the BJP, speaks. “On your birthday, you can plant a tree and make a pledge to take care of it until it is strong and healthy. As you were born on Mother Earth on that day, you can give something back to Nature in gratitude for all she has given you.” ~ Amma

Many of Amma’s Western children were given the opportunity to speak about what Sanatana Dharma means to them. One of Amma’s children, a judge from Colombia, spoke with great feeling about the need for true peace in her country.

While Amma blessed everyone, Amma’s international children chanted a number of Sanskrit stotras and Vedic hymns, to the great surprise and delight of the audience.
“I am sending my special love and blessings to all my children – millions, billions, countless gazillions times of love to everyone in our universal family.” ~ Amma
