A partial solar eclipse will be occurring in the month of March, and our beloved Amma has provided some guidance, so that everyone can protect themselves from the negative energy caused by this astrological event.
When an eclipse occurs, a lot of negativity enters into the Earth's atmosphere. This negative energy can influence us in specific ways, but there are certain practices which will actually protect us from harm and also allow us to even benefit from the unique circumstances of an eclipse. Eclipses also have a profound effect on the human aura, and this makes us vulnerable to this negative energy, especially if we are going through a difficult time astrologically.
A Partial Solar Eclipse Will Occur on March 19th (India) or March 18th (US)
A partial solar eclipse will be occurring on March 19th from 6:00 AM to 7:35 AM (Indian Standard Time). For those who live in the West, the eclipse will be on March 18th, from 8:30 PM to 10:05 PM (Eastern Standard Time in NY). This specific eclipse will have a particular effect on those whose Vedic moon sign (chandra rasi) is Kumbha or Mina, or whose birthstar (nakshatra) is Uttarabhadra.
For four hours before the eclipse begins and also for the duration of the eclipse, do not eat any food. If possible, avoid drinking any liquids, including water. Before the eclipse begins, take a complete bath/shower, including washing the hair. After bathing and putting on fresh clothes, go in your puja room and do either meditation or mantra japa for the duration of the eclipse. If you are practicing mantra japa, you can repeat your main mantra, or you can also repeat Maha Mrutyunjaya Mantra, which is very beneficial for shielding us from harmful energies.
After the eclipse has ended, take another bath/shower, washing the hair, and put on fresh clothes. If possible, it is very good to do puja at this time. If one can worship a Sri Chakra, it is especially good as the Sri Chakra is capable of nullifying negative astrological energies.
In addition, it would be very good to perform charitable actions during the solar eclipse, and also to offer red-colored items during the puja that you perform after this eclipse. For example, kumkum, red flowers, red fruits, red cloths, red bangles, etc, could be offered. It is said that when we do sadhana during an eclipse, the benefit is multiplied thousands of times. So even though the eclipse has the potential to bring in negativity, it also represents a powerful opportunity to do sadhana.
Special Homas Will Be Performed in the Penusila Ashram During the Solar Eclipse
Amma has arranged for some special homas that will help to reduce the effects of the solar eclipse. An Aruna Homa will be performed to counteract the effects of the solar eclipse, and Chandi Homa will be performed for universal peace.
Divine Mother is "Navagraha Dosha Nivarini," the one who
removes
the defects arising from the nine planets. Let us offer our prayers
to that Divine Mother for the peace and well-being of everyone around the world, and let us pray that all will be surrounded by a circle of divine protection during the upcoming eclipse.
