In less than one month, a very special “Sri Lalita Sahasranama Maha Yajnam for Universal Peace” program will be held in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh (India), from January 5 – 9, 2007. This program is being held to commemorate the completion of 100 crores of Lalita Sahasranama pujas. Amma’s Divine Sankalpa for World Peace
Since 1980, our beloved Amma has been instructing all of her children to worship Divine Mother with Sri Lalita Sahasranama for the sake of world peace and universal welfare. Her divine sankalpa was to complete 100 crores of Lalita Sahasranama pujas (one crore equals 10 million). This amount has now been completed, and the Lalita Sahasranama Yajna Program is being held to mark the accomplishment of this wonderful and divine goal.
Some may wonder how this number, 100 crores, is calculated. There are one thousand names in Sri Lalita Sahasranama, and this number is then multiplied by the number of people performing the puja as well as the number of times the puja is performed. So this means that over the past 27 years, a total of one million Lalita Sahasranama pujas have been performed with the help of many devotees in various places.

Sri Lalita Bhavani’s Divine Names Bring Unimaginable Blessings
Sri Lalita Bhavani is Viswa Mata – She is the universal Mother, who cares for all beings like Her very own children. She is Adi Parasakti, the eternal supreme energy that has given birth to all that is. She is Akhilanda Koti Brahmanda Nayaki – She eternally guides and rules countless millions of galaxies and supergalaxies, providing the very energy for the motion of all stars, planets and moons in existence. That supreme Mother is extremely pleased when we call Her by Her most sweet and tender names, like Bhavani, Lalita, or simply Amma. Simply to call Her name once is to flood our lives with divine light. So we can imagine how auspicious it would be to recite one thousand of Her most powerful, energizing, and uplifting names.
Sri Lalita Sahasranama, the Thousand Names of Sri Lalita Devi, was not created by any human. It was bestowed on all of humanity by Divine Mother Herself, through the medium of the Vasinyadi Vagdevatas, divine goddesses of speech. After creating the Vagdevatas, Divine Mother asked them to compose a hymn that would bring untold benefit to whoever chanted it, as well as the entire world. Closing their eyes and simply thinking of Mother, the Vasinyadi Vagdevatas immediately began chanting Sri Lalita Sahasranama, a beautiful and tremendously powerful stotram.
This auspicious stotram graces us with everything needed for a happy, healthy and peaceful life. But most importantly, it graces us with moksha. The devotee who chants this sacred stotram is assured of Mother’s grace for the ultimate liberation in this very birth.
A Celebration of a Rare Devotional Accomplishment
To mark the wonderful accomplishment of 100 crores of pujas to our beloved Mother Lalita Devi, numerous highly powerful abhishekas and homas will be performed during the five-day program. Each day of the program will begin with Sapta Sukta Abhishekam to Sri Maha Lakshmi, Sri Maha Saraswati, and Sri Lalita Parameswari as well as Rudrabhishekam, Salagrama Abhishekam and Sri Lalita Sahasranama Kumkum Archana.
In addition, the following homas will be conducted each day: Navagraha Shanti Homa, Ganesha Homa, Sri Sukta Homa, Lakshmi Narayana Hrudaya Homa, Vishnu Sahasranama Homa, Anjaneya Homa, Purusha Sukta Homa, Maha Saraswati Homa, Rudra Homa, Maha Mrutyunjaya Homa, Gayatri Homa, Chandi Homa, and the main event of Sri Lalita Sahasranama Homa. On January 7th, the highly auspicious Sri Ganesha Laksha Modaka Homa will be held; in this homa, 100,000 modakas will be offered to Sri Ganesha.

In the evening, Amma will grace her children with bhajans and her divine discourses, so that all may understand the inner significance of reciting Sri Lalita Devi's most auspicious divine names. On the final day of the program, a Conference for Universal Peace will be held, in which devotees from around the world will discuss the unique contributions of India's ancient culture, Sanatana Dharma, to the cause of universal peace.
Thousands will be attending this program, adding the energy of their own prayers for Divine Mother’s loving grace and blessings for our world. Whenever more people gather together to perform puja, meditate, or offer universal prayers, the energy of such noble practices is multiplied tremendously. This wonderful event will become like a tidal wave of love for the Divine, as well as a massive outpouring of prayer for universal peace and happiness.
