Ohio Governor Issues Resolution Honoring Amma

On May 31, a resolution signed by the governor of Ohio was presented to Amma in recognition of her humanitarian mission. The text is shown below:

RESOLUTION
Whereas, Sri Karunamayi Amma will visit the state of Ohio from May 31st to June 3rd, 2006; and
Whereas, her mission is to freely provide compassion, love, and spiritual guidance regardless of age, creed, or faith; and
Whereas, her devotion, inspiration, and vision have resulted in the creation of a free hospital to the impoverished regions of southern India which serves over 500 villages; and
Whereas, in 2005, more than 18,000 patients were given free medical care at this facility, and over 12,000 patients were examined and treated at her mobile medical unit; and
Whereas, the Karunamayi Free School was established in 1994, where students in grades kindergarten through tenth, receive free tuition, books, uniforms, teaching materials, food and health care; and
Whereas, during her travels in cities around the world, she shares her love, peace and wisdom with all.
Now, therefore, I, Bob Taft, Governor of the State of Ohio, do hereby recognize
SRI KARUNAMAYI AMMA
and encourage all Ohioans to join me in recognizing Sri Karunamayi Amma for her special assistance to the needy, and her outstanding humanitarian contributions to the United States and the world.
