Amma is welcomed to the homa

Amma releases doves for peace on Mother's Day

The homa begins after various forms of the Divine are invited to be present

While chanting Divine Mother's powerful names, everyone makes a special
mudra (hand gesture) that draws cosmic energy into the crown chakra

The vibrations of the sacred homa purify all negativity...

...and bestow every kind of auspicious blessing

Swamiji brings the purnahuti to Amma - this is the
final and most important offering in the homa

The purnahuti, full of auspicious offerings like a coconut, new clothes,
and fruits, is shown to all the devotees

The most powerful moment in the homa, witnessing the offering of the
purnahuti is equal to witnessing the entire homa

A devotee receives Amma's Mother's Day blessings

A beautiful garland of red roses has been offered to our beloved Amma

A devotee presents a proclamation from the mayor of Atlanta to Amma

Some devotees perform a traditional dance known as "dandiya"

Amma blesses a Mother's Day cake before it is distributed to
all the devotees as prasadam

The Atlanta devotees are very lucky to receive prasadam
from Amma
on Mother's Day itself

The devotees have arranged for Amma to release some butterflies

Just as Amma releases the beautiful butterflies from the box, Divine Mother
releases our souls from every kind of physical, mental, or spiritual cage

Amma is delighted when one butterfly decides to stay for a visit

As if it recognizes its true Mother, the butterfly is perfectly happy to rest on
Amma's forehead for quite a while, and seems unwilling to leave her
