conclusion of the 2005 Guru Purnima Sri Pada Puja
Jai Karunamayi!
In just one short month, the sacred and powerful time of Guru Purnima will arrive. Guru Purnima is known as the most important day of the year for honoring the guru and receiving the guru’s most compassionate blessings. It is said that the blessing received on Guru Purnima is equal to all the blessings received throughout the rest of the year. Please join us in Portland on July 9th for the Guru Purnima Sri Pada Puja Program, which will include a cultural program, Amma’s divine discourse, Sri Pada Puja, and Amma’s blessings. All are most welcome to come, take darshan, and receive Amma’s most auspicious blessings. We hope to see you there!
Last year on Guru Purnima, Amma spoke about how all the divine rishis bless us on Guru Purnima, and how meditation makes us very receptive to the rishis’ blessings. She also mentioned that on Guru Purnima, it is as if all the gurus from all the world’s faiths are standing in front of us, and that we can bow down our heads to all the gurus, who are spreading the universal message of peace, compassion, and truth. Respect, true devotion, pure speech, and all the noble virtues are like beautiful cosmic flowers, and we can all worship the guru with these inner flowers on the most sacred and holy occasion of Guru Purnima.
For more details about the program, please visit the Guru Purnima page. This year's only weekend meditation retreat will be held in Portland immediately before the Guru Purnima celebration. For more information about the retreat, please visit the Guru Purnima Retreat page.
For those who are unable to attend, but who would like to participate in the Sri Pada Puja, a sponsorship form will be made available shortly. This year, some very special prasadam items are being arranged, and those details will be posted to the Latest News page when available.
