Details of Ganesha Chaturthi Day Worships
and Sponsorships
at Amma's International Headquarters,
Penusila Asharam
August 23, 2009
Following is a summary of the beautiful acts of worship that will be
performed on Ganesha Chaturthi day, under the holy blessings of our beloved
Amma, Sri Karunamayi.
Lord Sri Ganesha is the very embodiment of the all-pervading universal
energy, and worship of Sri Ganesha on this auspicious day will remove
all obstacles and bestow the devotee with all auspiciousness.
Sponsors of this beautiful day of worship will be blessed with the sacred
recitation of their, and their loved-ones’ names before each sponsored
ceremony. Afterwards, holy prasad (blessed items) will be mailed directly
from Amma’s Penusila Ashram to each sponsor, providing continual
blessings for the sponsor, his/her home, family, and friends.
All proceeds from sponsorships will help to support Amma’s many
charities, including her free hospital, free schools, and housing for
the poor and dispossessed.

Sponsorship Form, fill it out, and mail it to the address provided
on the form. If you prefer to mail, please allow sufficient time.
1. Mother Cow Puja (Go Puja) $27
Auspicious worship of Go
Mata, the Divine Mother in the form of a living cow, followed by a
procession from the entrance of Amma’s divine
Ashram. $27
2. Abhishekas with sixteen ingredients $108
Extremely special and supremely
powerful sacred bathing ceremonies, with sixteen supremely holy ingredients. $108
3. Kaavadi seva
Kaavadi Seva involves carrying the kaavadi, a shoulder-held
balance containing sacred ingredients for offerings to Lord Ganesh.
Interestingly, it’s
crucial that each ingredient placed in the kaavadi is gently added
in a way that the ingredient itself is kept secret and unseen by all
others. The devotee who carries the kaavadi must observe other austerities
such as keeping oneself clean both internally and externally, observing
fasting, wearing freshly-laundered clothing, and maintaining silence
throughout the entire procession.
This is an extremely auspicious service (seva)
opportunity that a devotee can offer to Sri Ganesha on this very
sacred day. In this seva, a devotee
can participate in any one of the following nine kaavadi carrying
opportunities. You can participate by yourself, or you can sponsor
one or more of them and have other devotees carry them on your behalf.

4. Navagraha Samasta Dosha Nivarana Jyothi $27
This beautiful lamp lighting
ceremony is performed in order to remove all the negative effects of
all the nine planets. One hundred thousand wicks are combined to create
one extremely large wick, and sesame oil is poured into a sizeable container.
Navadhanyas (nine types of grains and sesame seeds) are then mixed together
and delicately spread out on the floor. Then, the container with oil
is placed on top of the grains. The enormous wick is then placed into
the oil and is illuminated amidst chants of Vedic mantras for peace of
the nine planets. The lighting of the wick will take place upon the names
of all of the sponsoring devotees.
On the auspicious day of Sri Ganesha Chaturthi, thousands
of oil lamps are lit throughout the temple complex. When you offer
a lamp to Lord Sri Ganesha on this auspicious day, your life will
shine brightly with light and effulgence. The darkness of all hardships
will be burnt away with this supreme offering of light. $27
5. One Hundred Eight Dahshinavrita Shankha Maha Abhishekam $108
This
is a very special and extremely powerful sacred bath ceremony that
happens only on Sri Ganesha Chaturthi day during the auspicious time
of Hasta Nakshatra time-period. Holy waters from most of he sacred
rivers are collected for this powerful ceremony, which happens only
on this day, once in a year. The collected sacred waters are poured
upon Lord Sri Ganesha with each of one hundred and eight Dakshinavruta
Shankhas or conches that are spiraled form the right. This unparalleled
sacred bath ceremony is supremely powerful and it destroys all accumulated
sins of the devotees who participate in it. $108
6. Dasa Sahasra Moduka Vedokta Maha Homa for Nine Days $1008
This is a supremely powerful fire ceremony that will be performed
for nine days. On the day of Ganesha Chaturthi, the fire ceremony
will be performed with offerings of ten thousand modukas while powerful
Veda mantras are chanted. For the rest of the eight days, the ceremony
will be performed with offerings of one thousand modukas amidst chants
of Veda mantras. The powerful blessings of sacred Veda mantras, worships
of Kalashas, worships of Holy Cows, and the reverberating sounds of
Veda mantras that are all a part of these nine-day fire ceremonies
will reach you no matter how far away you reside. All devotees are
encouraged to sponsor this very special nine-day fire ceremony upon
their name. $1008
7. Sri Ganesha Naivedyam (sacred offering) at the Temple on Ganesha
Chaturthi Day- August 23, 2009 $54
The worship for Lord Sri Ganesha at the temple on Ganesha Chaturthi
day will take place in a grand scale. Thousands of lamps will be lit
and the sounds of the chanting of ancient Vedic mantras will reverberate
into the heavens. As part of this worship, one thousand and eight laddus,
which are most dear to Lord Sri Ganesha, will be offered as naivedyam
or sanctified food offering.

8) Ganesha
Chaturti Homa - AUGUST 23, 2009 - $54
Ganesh
Chaturthi, occurs on the fourth day of the waxing moon in the Hindu month
of Bhadrapada (Aug-Sep). This day is known as the most important and
auspicious day for obtaining Sri Ganesha's blessings. When Ganesha is
worshipped on Ganesh Chaturthi, he removes all obstacles and gives auspicious
positive results for all our endeavors. Worshipping him on this day grants
the complete grace of the three Divine Mothers - Sri Lakshmi, Sri Saraswati,
and Sri Rudrani.
Sri Ganesha graciously removes all obstacles and hindrances from one’s
worldly and spiritual life, allowing for success and fulfillment in all
worthy endeavors. The homa performed on this important day will invoke
Sri Ganesha’s energy in a powerful way.
When Sahasra Modaka Homa
is performed on Ganesh Chaturthi, Sri Ganesha grants infinite auspicious
results. All adverse circumstances and home conflicts are destroyed,
such that home life becomes very peaceful and happy. $54
9) Sri
Ganesha Chaturti Special Nakshatra Homa - AUGUST 23, 2009 - $54
Sri Ganesha's powerful energy easily overcomes all
obstacles caused by planetary difficulties. This Ganesh Chaturthi (Aug
23, 2009), a powerful Nakshatra Homa will be performed at Amma's Penusila
Ashram. "Nakshatra" means "birth
star," and this term refers to the constellation of stars that
most strongly influences your mind, your basic nature, and your life
patterns. There are twenty-seven nakshatras, and each person falls
under one nakshatra, according to the time and place of birth. Each
nakshatra grants certain positive tendencies as well as negative tendencies.
Amma has directed
her temple priests to perform Nakshatra Homa on Ganesh Chaturthi, as
this homa will become even more powerful due to being performed on
this very sacred day. If you participate in this Nakshatra Homa,
