Navaratri Homa and Puja Sponsorships

Amma has explained that during Navaratri (Sept. 19-28, 2009), Divine Mother showers her abundant motherly love and choicest spiritual blessings on her children. Thus, Navaratri is the most auspicious time of the entire year for worshipping Divine Mother. In order to take advantage of the powerful energy of this time, numerous sacred homas and pujas will be performed in Amma’s presence at the Penusila Ashram. It is a tremendous act of merit to sponsor these homas and pujas, as they bring great blessings to Mother Earth and all living beings.

There are a number of sponsorships available this year. Sponsors may choose which of the ten days of Navaratri they wish to sponsor, and on each selected day, sankalpa will be performed on behalf of the sponsor for every homa and puja performed on that day, as described above. All sponsors will receive blessed prasadam. To sponsor the Navaratri homas or pujas and receive the highly charged and blessed prasadam, you may print the India Sponsorship Form, fill it out, and mail it to the address provided. To learn more about the sponsorship options or for online sponsorship, please see the links below.

In addition to these sponsorships, there is also a special $5004 Ten-Day Sponsorship and $10,008 Ten-Day Sponsorship available, which will benefit Amma's free hospital. The blessed prasadam for the $5004 sponsorship is a large green jade Maha Lakshmi murti, and the prasadam for the $10,008 sponsorship is the highly sacred ruby Sri Chakra, which will be charged with Amma's special Navaratri blessings.

The Greatness of Navaratri

During Navaratri, which literally means “nine nights,” Devi is worshipped in her three main forms as Sri Saraswati, Sri  Lakshmi Devi, and Sri Durga Devi, also known as Sri Mahishasura Mardini. Thus, any meritorious acts performed during Navaratri bring every kind of blessing, including true devotion, spiritual knowledge, divine protection, and radiant energy. For more information on ways to observe Navaratri in your own home, please visit the Navaratri Guidance page.

The day following the nine days of Navaratri is known as “Vijayadasami,” which literally means “Tenth Day of Victory,” or “Day of Victory.” This most auspicious day celebrates the occasion of Divine Mother’s victory over all forces of evil, and it is also the day on which our beloved Amma chose to incarnate in physical form. This year, Navaratri is being celebrated from September 19 - 28, 2009.

On the most blessed and auspicious occasion of Navaratri, may the divine energy of the homas and pujas performed in Penusila touch the hearts of all beings with peace, contentment, and radiant spiritual joy.
