Devotees' Experiences of the Positive Influence of Homas and Abhishekas My father had to undergo a major heart surgery.
Just before the surgery, our entire family was very anxious and gloomy
because my father had many other ailments like asthma, anemia, high blood
pressure and diabetes. The doctor had not given us much hope, saying
that there was a 99% chance he might not survive. One of Amma's devotees
came to the hospital and gave us the homa prasadam from a Sri Mrutyunjaya
Homa. We applied it on our father's forehead before he went for the operation.
Surgery was performed successfully, despite the warnings of my father's
doctor. Now my father is healthy and completely capable of attending
to his daily work. I am sure this miracle has happened because of the
homa prasadam of Sri Mrutyunjaya Homa. I was trying to get into a moving train leaving
for Shirdi, the birthplace of Sri Shirdi Baba. To my horror, I lost my
grip and fell down between the platform and the train. Immediately, I
remembered Sri Karunamayi Amma in my heart and cried out, 'Amma, Mrutyunjaya
Janani, save me.' Luckily, I was carrying the kumkum prasadam of Sri
Lalita Homa with me, and also applying that kumkum to my forehead every
day. Somehow, I escaped all injury, and it is my firm belief that it
was Amma's invisible hand and the Sri Lalita Homa prasadam that saved
me. I had been told by an astrologer that I might
have a serious accident in the next six to twelve months, possibly involving
my car. There was a possibility of serious physical injury, and he advised
that I do some special practices to reduce the negative astrological
influences. I decided to sponsor a homa in my city during Amma's US Tour
that year. I received the homa prasadam and began carrying it with me
at all times. A couple weeks later, and seven months after the astrologer's
prediction, I was on my way to a homa program in New York when I missed
a red light due to sun glare and hit a car passing directly in front
of me. I was terrified that I might have hurt someone, but amazingly,
no one got even a scratch. Even the cars were not terribly damaged, even
though I hit the car squarely at good speed. I felt grateful to Amma
for the chance to participate in a sacred homa and obtain divine protection
for myself and others. Now, when I sponsor homas, I make sure to always
carry the prasadam with me in my purse. On New Year's Day in the year 2000, there was
a very wonderful Sri Rudra Homa held in Amma's Penusila Ashram. Many
special ingredients gathered from the sacred forest were offered into
the holy fire, and the energy generated by the homa put me into such
a deep state that I was able to sit perfectly still, immersed in meditation
for the entire four hours of the ceremony. Normally, I have a lot of
trouble meditating for even half an hour, but in the sacred atmosphere
created by the homa, my meditation felt much more powerful and effortless.
I have read that meditation or mantra chanting done in the presence of
the sacred homa fire is worth thousands of such meditations or chantings
done anywhere else, and that was certainly my experience. |
