Navaratri is a very exciting time. Many pujas and homas are performed consecutively or concurrently in the Tri Sakti Peetam, (the temple devoted to the three deities – Sri Lakshmi, Sri Lalita and Sri Saraswati – and also on the temple grounds in the yagya shala – the sacred ground dedicated to sacred fire ceremonies.

Kalasa Sthapanam – Establishment of the Divine Energies or Saktis within the holy vessel.

A vessel is filled with the water of 108 rivers from around the world. Special symbolic items are used to decorate it as it represents the divine energy of Divine Mother who is invited to reside there to be worshipped during the holy days. At the end of the Navaratri celebration, this holy water or thirtham will be distributed to all the devotees. This is a great blessing as the water is highly charged with the power of the mantras chanted during the 10 days of Navaratri. The benefit of participating for 10 days in this puja to the kalasa is that the 7 year negative effects of Lord Saturn, Yelinati Shani, can be removed. If possible, please mention your gothra (clan name) if you know it, and your own name to sponsor the puja.

Abhishekams (holy ritual bathing to the chanting of mantras) for Sri Maha Lakshmi, Sri Maha Saraswati, Sri Lalita Parameswari.

Everyday abhishekam is performed to all the deities in the sanctum sanctorum of the Tri Sakti Peetham, the special temple dedicated to the three divine energies. Special items are used in the abhishekam - the water from 108 rivers, 27 varieties of fruit juice, pancha amritam (a mixture of cows’ milk, cow ghee, yoghurt made from cows’ milk, honey and sugar), holy ash, rose water, lotus water, turmeric & kumkum (red vermillion powder considered sacred to Divine Mother) and sandalwood paste.

Simultaneously, similar abhishekam is performed to all the deities located outside the immediate sanctum sanctoram. Performing these abhishekams with one's own birth star mentioned at the start of the puja (sankalpa) will enable the individual to get rid of his/her mental/physical problems and the ill effects of Lord Saturn.

During these 10 days, Mahanyasa puroaka, Ekadasa Vaara Rudrabhishekams are performed to the marakama Siva Lingam (Lord Siva) with the chanting of holy mantras by 11 Vedic priests. The Siva Lingam will be bathed with water from the holy Ganges and pancha amritham. Bilva archana, worshipping the Siva Lingam (and thus Lord Siva) by offering the leaves of the wood apple tree dear to Siva, will also be performed.

By participating in the above pujas the ill effects of the planets on one’s birth star during the year can be mitigated or removed. The abhishekams will bless the individual with mental peace and get rid of his/her physical illness.

For those suffering from various obstacles in their lives, great protection can be achieved by sponsoring the Moduka Sri Maha Ganesha Homa – A homa sacred fire ceremony dedicated to Sri Ganesha where 1 lakh or 100,000 modukas, a delicious sweet favored by Lord Ganesha, are offered. Sri Samputita Sri Suktam Maha Lakshmi Devi Kamala (lotus flowers) Homa

To attain the blessings of Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi, a sacred fire ceremony will be performed everyday with red lotus flowers to the chanting of the Samputita Sri Suktam. The names and birth stars of devotees sponsoring this daily homa will be included in the sankalpa before each homa. By participation in this homa during Navaratri, one can achieve all prosperity and overall improvement in the quality of one’s life.

Maha Abhishekam to Sri Maha Saraswati

During the 10 days of Navaratri you can participate in special abhishekams to Sri Maha Saraswati Devi. You will receive her special divine grace when your name and birth star are included in the sankalpa. It is considered to be highly auspicious to perform abhishekam with holy water and other special substances to Sri Maha Saraswati during Navaratri.

The following abhishekams are performed especially for Sri Saraswati Maha Devi starting with the beautiful early morning worship known as “suprabhatam” everyday.

1. Pure pearls water abhishekam
2. White lotus flowers abhishekam.
3. White sandalwood paste abhishekam.
4. Gold waters abhishekam
5. Pancha amrita abhishekam (cows’ milk, yoghurt from cows’ milk, cow ghee, honey and sugar)

Sri Saraswati Devi protects us from the poverty resulting from our actions in previous births, memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease and related diseases.
